SignOnHost Backup Policy
1. Overview
At SignOnHost, we understand the importance of data integrity and business continuity. To support our clients, we implement regular backup procedures to help safeguard website content and other hosted data. However, clients are ultimately responsible for maintaining their own backups.
2. Frequency of Backups
Shared Hosting Accounts: Backups are performed 2–3 times per month.
VPS and Dedicated Servers: Backups are not automatically included unless a managed backup plan is purchased.
Critical Files: We strongly recommend clients maintain local backups of essential files and databases.
3. Backup Retention
Backups are stored for up to 15 days.
After 15 days, older backups may be automatically overwritten or removed.
We do not guarantee the availability or integrity of backups beyond the retention period.
4. What is Backed Up
Website files (public_html and associated directories)
MySQL databases
Email data (for hosting accounts that use our mail server)
Note: Files or data stored outside the standard web directory may not be included.
5. What is Not Covered
Backups do not include remote email data for third-party services (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
Custom configurations or server-level changes on unmanaged servers.
Backups cannot be guaranteed if your account exceeds its storage limit or is in breach of terms of service.
6. Client Responsibility
Clients are responsible for their own backup routines and data security.
We encourage using third-party tools or plugins (e.g., JetBackup, UpdraftPlus, or Acronis) for additional protection.
Clients may request a backup restoration through the client area; a restoration fee may apply depending on the plan.
7. Limitations of Liability
SignOnHost shall not be held liable for any data loss, backup failure, or damages arising from backup unavailability.
Clients are advised to download and store their backups offline regularly.
8. Optional Backup Plans
SignOnHost offers Managed Backup Solutions for VPS and high-risk data environments. These include:
Daily or weekly backups
Offsite storage
Extended retention (up to 30–60 days)
